Release Notes Q2 2026
With this release, we're moving to a quarterly cadence for release notes โ a reflection of how continuously the platform evolves around customer needs, backed by our ongoing investment in R&D and delivery. This quarter brings faster IDEaaS startup, broader device credential support, expanded language coverage, smarter file handling in the project viewer, and more โ as our team keeps working to make the platform better and better.
1. Flexible IDEaaS startup: speed or full GSD synchronizationโ
Starting an IDEaaS instance is now a choice. Users can launch a pre-warmed instance for fast startup during routine engineering work, or a slower instance with full GSD synchronization when hardware catalog accuracy matters more than speed. The trade-off is now in the user's hands rather than fixed.
2. Backup support for Rockwell Stratix switchesโ
Network switches are now backed up alongside PLCs over TFTP. Previously, switch configurations had to be managed separately, outside SDA. The network layer now sits in the same backup schedule and version history as every other automation asset.
3. Full credential support for Siemens PLCsโ
Siemens PLCs can require up to three distinct passwords: connection, safety access, and PLC Master Secret. SDA previously supported only one credential per device, leaving safety-protected devices partially manageable. All three can now be linked, individually named, and stored in the vault as secrets rather than plain text.
4. Platform available in six additional languagesโ
Korean, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Danish, and Chinese. Plant engineers can now work in their own language rather than navigating an English-only interface, lowering the barrier to adoption at international sites.
5. Native viewing and comparison for common file formatsโ
Users can now view PDF, RTF, PNG, JPEG, SVG, HTML, DOCX, and XLSX directly in the platform โ in general documents and within the project view โ with comparison support, including side-by-side for images. Files that can't be rendered offer a download link instead.
6. CSV tables render properly in the project viewerโ
CSV files now display as proper tables instead of raw unformatted text, making tag lists and configuration exports readable in-app rather than requiring an export to a spreadsheet.
7. Manual override of gateway locations on the World Mapโ
Gateway positions were derived from public IP, which is often imprecise. Administrators can now set the correct physical location manually, so the World Map reflects where equipment actually sits.
8. UI preferences persist across browsers and devicesโ
Language and theme settings are now stored against the user account rather than the local browser. Switching machines or browsers no longer means reconfiguring the interface.
9. Custom Fieldsโ
Customers can now define their own metadata against assets instead of being limited to a predefined field set โ mapping SDA onto the naming conventions and asset IDs they already use.
10. SDA Sync Client โ feature completeโ
Now supports both local and network storage, so customers can synchronise SDA projects directly to their own storage infrastructure.
